The closing of Episode 153 of Vietnamese Family Shelter was filled with emotion, as singer Quang Ha and actress Dong Anh Quynh joined hands to raise nearly VND 100 million to support orphaned children facing severe hardship.
Quach Duc Thien (born 2014), currently a sixth-grade student at Thach Binh Secondary School, Phu Son Commune, Ninh Binh Province, was the final featured child in Episode 153. Previously, Thien’s father, Quach Van Tung (born 1986), suffered a traffic accident that caused him to completely lose vision in his left eye. Not long after, while working as a construction assistant, he fell from scaffolding, fracturing his ribs and shoulder, leaving his health increasingly fragile.
After a series of misfortunes, Thien’s mother became the family’s main breadwinner, working as a factory worker at a leather footwear company. Tragically, due to prolonged overwork, she passed away from a stroke in 2022. Since then, Thien and his younger brother have had only their father to rely on. The family’s situation plunged into extreme hardship.

At present, in order to provide for his sons, Mr. Tung takes on any job available – from construction assisting and hired farming to pumping water. His daily wages range from VND 200,000 to 300,000 depending on the work. If work is steady, he earns about VND 4 million per month; however, there are months when no one hires him and the family has no income at all.
Because his two sons are still young and in school, Mr. Tung does not dare work far from home and only accepts jobs nearby. Moreover, his weakened health prevents him from doing heavy labor regularly. Currently, both brothers receive orphan allowances of VND 320,000 per month each, while Mr. Tung receives a disability allowance of VND 720,000 per month.
Whenever he misses his mother, Duc Thien hugs his old schoolbag – a gift his mother bought for him when she was still alive – to ease his longing. He loves his father deeply and feels heartbroken seeing him endure constant pain from old injuries while still going out to work. Thien and his younger brother constantly remind themselves to study hard, grow up quickly, earn money, and help ease their father’s burden. Thien wishes to repay his father’s sacrifices and hopes his father can have a better life and remain healthy by his children’s side.

Actress Dong Anh Quynh repeatedly wiped away tears upon witnessing the family’s hardship. She choked up, saying, “I cannot imagine myself being strong enough if I were in such circumstances. Even now, if I had to endure that kind of pain, I don’t think I could be as resilient as these children.”
MC Dai Nghia could not hide his heavy heart as he watched the two brothers, still so young, face the pain of losing their mother. A series of misfortunes – their father’s accidents and their mother’s passing – left the MC deeply emotional. He struggled to hold back tears while listening to Duc Thien recount how he often clutches the schoolbag his mother once bought for him.

“Separation and loss are inevitable parts of life,” MC Dai Nghia shared emotionally. “But if such pain comes to adults like us, who are already grown and mature, it may be easier to endure. For children like Thien, they are still far too young to face such profound loss.”
Singer Quang Ha expressed deep concern for Mr. Tung’s health, as the father has suffered multiple accidents and severe physical decline yet continues working to raise his children. He also admired the maturity of the two brothers, who already know how to help their father with work.
This marked Quang Ha’s second time participating in Vietnamese Family Shelter. Despite preparing himself emotionally, the singer could not hide his feelings when directly witnessing the children’s circumstances. Beyond words of encouragement, he and actress Dong Anh Quynh gave their all in the challenges to secure meaningful rewards for the families.

At the end of the challenges, the family of Nguyen Duy Phuoc placed third, receiving VND 17 million. Ha Bao Ngoc finished second with VND 22 million. The family of Quach Duc Thien won first prize, overcoming a special challenge to receive a total of VND 55 million. Thus, in Episode 153, the total prize money awarded by Hoa Sen Group amounted to VND 94 million.

In addition, MC Dai Nghia, singer Duc Phuc, along with benefactors and local residents, joined hands to donate nearly VND 200 million to all three families, helping provide further motivation for the children to overcome their hardships.
